Wayru
Wayru is a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) committed to democratizing internet access through a global, blockchain-powered WiFi network. By enabling individuals, small ISPs, and communities to deploy and manage their own hotspots, Wayru fosters a fully distributed, user-owned internet infrastructure. Participants can become Hotspot Operators by deploying plug-and-play devices like the indoor Apocalypse or outdoor Prometheus miners, or by bringing their own compatible devices and installing WayruOS, a proprietary firmware based on OpenWRT. WayruOS supports a variety of widely available routers, including models from MikroTik, TP-Link, Ubiquiti, and Linksys, making it accessible for users worldwide. The Wayru network offers access to over 12 million WiFi networks globally, enabling users to connect seamlessly via the Wayru app. This extensive coverage allows both individuals and telecommunications companies to tap into a vast array of hotspots, facilitating efficient data offloading and expanding connectivity coverage.
